Statement of Position on
Reproductive Choice

Recognizing the fundamental constitutional right to reproductive choice and autonomy, our statement of position is to protect and uphold these rights for all individuals. Our position seeks to ensure that every person has access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including the right to choose whether to continue a pregnancy, free from undue interference or barriers. Our statement of position also seeks to protect and advance a person's right to reproductive healthcare, promoting access to safe and legal abortion services, comprehensive sex education, contraception, maternal healthcare, and researchers working towards the betterment of reproductive health. By eliminating unnecessary barriers and safeguarding autonomy, this initiative aims to ensure reproductive freedom for all individuals across the nation.

 

Ensuring Access to Safe and Legal Abortion Services

• Legal Protection: Affirms the legal protection for individuals seeking and providing abortion services and ensures that no person shall be denied access to reproductive healthcare services, including abortion, based on their personal beliefs, reproductive health history, or socioeconomic status.

• Eliminating Barriers: Seeks to eliminate unnecessary and burdensome barriers to accessing abortion care, which may include waiting periods, mandatory counseling, biased and unscientific information provision, and medically unnecessary regulations.

• Expanding Access: Promotes the expansion of abortion providers and clinics, particularly in underserved areas, to ensure geographic accessibility and reduce disparities in reproductive healthcare access.

 

Comprehensive Sex Education and Access to Contraception

• Comprehensive Sex Education: Calls for the implementation of comprehensive, evidence-based, and age-appropriate sexual education curricula in all schools, ensuring accurate information about reproductive health, contraception, and safe sex practices.

• Access to Contraception: Supports efforts to increase access to affordable and reliable contraception, such as birth control pills, intrauterine devices (IUDs), and emergency contraception, ensuring that individuals have the means to prevent unintended pregnancies.

 

Support for Maternal Health and Pregnancy Care

• Maternal Health Support: Enforces the provision of comprehensive prenatal care, postnatal care, and adequate health services for pregnant individuals, regardless of their socioeconomic status or geographical location.

• Expansion of Medicaid Coverage: Advocates for the expansion of Medicaid coverage to ensure that pregnant individuals have access to comprehensive healthcare coverage throughout their pregnancy and postpartum period.

 

Protecting Reproductive Rights Across All States

• Preemption of State Laws: Establishes that federal laws protecting reproductive rights shall preempt any contradictory state laws that impose unwarranted restrictions on access to reproductive healthcare services.

• Rescinding TRAP Laws: Calls for the repeal of Targeted Regulations of Abortion Providers (TRAP) laws which disproportionately burden abortion providers with unnecessary and medically unjustified regulations.

 

Research and Funding

• Support for Reproductive Health Research: Encourages the allocation of federal funding towards research programs aimed at improving reproductive healthcare outcomes, innovations in contraception, and safe abortion procedures.

• Protecting Title X Funding: Supports the preservation and adequate funding of Title X Family Planning, ensuring that individuals have access to a range of affordable and quality reproductive healthcare services.
